She is on site specialist for the IQ-MS Research Project, providing embedded support for math and science teachers as they learn to incorporate disciplinary literacy into their content.
Prior to joining S²TEM Centers SC, Margaret taught mathematics and language development to students with diagnosed learning disabilities at Sandhills School in Columbia, SC. She also taught mathematics at White Knoll Middle School in Lexington, SC. Margaret's classroom teaching experience spans kindergarten through eighth grade.
Margaret received a B.A. elementary education from Clemson University, and later earned a middle school math endorsement. She recently completed work for and earned her Master’s in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University.
A deep passion for learning has led Margaret to study the impact adoption of Common Core has on the area of Special Education. Those who teach special needs students are often overlooked in the implementation of new standards and require individualized support. She also works with South Carolina ETV to design and implement online courses using the Moodle platform, giving mathematics educators opportunities to grow in content and pedagogical knowledge.
