Rhett Nettles, Education Specialist
Email: rnettles @s2temsc . org Rhett Nettles joined S²TEM Centers SC in July 2007 as an Education Specialist. Her work currently focuses on training and supporting the implementation of STEM processes, designing and implementing integrated curriculum and assessments, and developing the capacity of school-based leadership for supporting STEM. She is an Agency Trainer with Thinking Collaborative and is currently seeking certification as a Training Associate for Cognitive Coaching. She is currently working to help schools get STEM certification from Cognia®. As an active member of many scientific and academic communities she remains current on new technology, processes, content and pedagogy. She has worked with the College of Charleston and NASA on integrated STEM curriculum for MS and presented at the national NSTA conference in 2018 and 2019. She was the lead for the iSTEM CS Research Project a partnership program between Boeing, Lowcountry schools and S²TEM Centers SC to develop strategies for implementing computational skills and promoting digital literacy in middle school math, science, social studies and ELA classrooms. Prior to joining S²TEM Centers SC, Rhett taught science at the Academic Magnet High School in Charleston, SC and science at Gaffney High School in Gaffney, SC. Rhett's classroom teaching experience spans grades 8 through 12. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked as a chemical research assistant at the Milliken Chemical Research facility in Spartanburg, SC. Rhett received a B.A. in Biology, and an M.A. in Secondary Science Education, from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and is nationally board certified in the area of Adolescent and Young Adulthood-Science. |
