Rhonda Willis, Director of Community Engagement and Outreach
Email: rwillis @ s2temsc. org Phone: 803-508-0326 / 803-942-0444 Rhonda Willis serves as SCCMS’s Director of Community Engagement and Outreach and as the S²TEM Centers SC Coordinator for the Lowcountry Region. Rhonda has been in the field of education since 1980. Early in her career, she spent 12 years teaching elementary school and then 16 years teaching middle school and high school mathematics. She has certifications in elementary, middle school, and high school mathematics and has a GT endorsement. She also is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Mathematics. After 28 years in the classroom, she accepted a position as a district K-12 Curriculum Director. After serving in this capacity for 10 years, she took advantage of the opportunity to join S²TEM Centers SC as Regional Coordinator in 2019. Rhonda earned her M.Ed. degree with a focus on curriculum and integrating technology in the classroom from Walden University and her B.S. degree in elementary education from Columbia International University in South Carolina as well as her B.S. degree in secondary mathematics from the University of South Carolina. Rhonda is a continuous learning and stays active in her state and community serving on various boards and committees, including SC Learning Forward, PEARLS of Hampton County (Women’s Giving Circle), and the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry’s COVID Relief Fund. Throughout her career, she also has served on numerous SC State Department of Education committees for the Office of Standards and Learning, Office of Assessment, and Office of Early Learning. |
