Sue Pietrusza, Education Specialist
Email: spietrusza @s2temsc . org Sue Pietrusza joined S²TEM Centers SC in 2019 as an Education Specialist for the Western region. In this role, she supports teacher growth through coaching and delivering customized professional development for teachers in South Carolina. Prior to becoming part of the Western region team, Sue was a Media Specialist in a South Carolina high school where she assisted both teachers and students with virtual learning, digital media and technology tools. She relocated from Florida to the Palmetto State in 2018. In Florida, over the years Sue has worked as an English teacher, Technology Integration Specialist and Assistant Principal. She has trained with both veteran and novice educators as well as Special Education teachers. She was a Clinical Educator Trainer and Notre Dame ACE Mentor in Florida and now is a Certified South Carolina Evaluator. Sue provided professional development and technology training to assist teachers in creating project based learning lessons and longitudinal STEM projects that incorporated the state’s learning objectives and standards. As the Steering Committee Chairman, Sue led her school to become the first STREAM Certified school by the Florida Catholic Conference. She has presented at conferences such as the Future of Education Technology Conference and was referred to as a “STREAM Pioneer” when she was selected as an Engineering is Elementary Superstar of 2017. As a former Aviation Electrician in the United States Navy, Sue has always enjoyed hands on learning and understands the importance of 21st century skills. Her job required communication, collaboration, critical thinking and at times creativity to keep everyone safe and get the job done. She takes pleasure in bringing her experiences to students and teachers in South Carolina. Sue earned a BA in English from the University of North Florida and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. |
